Job Description:

Under the direction of the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach is responsible for all aspects of the development and administration of a successful NCAA Division III Intercollegiate Basketball Program. The program will be conducted in accordance with all College and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), rules, regulations, and policies.

The Assistant Coach is a professional employee of the College with a primary duty of teaching and instructing student-athletes in the sport of Basketball. The vast majority of the Assistant Coach's time is spent on coaching/teaching duties in season as well as some recruiting, while a minority of the Assistant Coach's time is spent performing administrative duties.

Essential Functions:

1. Coaching/Teaching Duties (80% of Assistant Coach's time):

Assist head coach in daily practice plans and game plans with the ability to organize and implement plans, strategies, and skill development;

Prepare film breakdown for games or practices and have the ability to present to the team or head coach;

Assist with any day to day on court operations with the program and have excellent communication skills with Head Coach;

Work with the Head Coach in putting together the practice schedule for the season taking in mind the academic schedule of the student-athletes.

2. Administrative Duties (20% of Assistant Coach's time):

Conduct an ongoing recruitment program through a variety of methods, with the goal to attract, select and encourage enrollment of high caliber basketball student-athletes. Could include extensive travel to games, showcases, tournaments in and out of the New England area;

Help Head coach in monitoring SA's academics throughout the year;

Help Head Coach when needed in planning bus travel, meals, community service and any fundraising efforts;

Aid in any uniform or equipment distribution and collection.

3. Supervision:

None

Additional Functions:

Comply with the NCAA Basketball policies, conference rules, and department policies and procedures;

Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach;

Must be able to perform Head Coach duties on an emergency basis;

Respect and maintain confidentiality, parameters of operation, professional protocols, and individual privacy.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in a related discipline from an accredited four-year collegiate institution.

One to two years of Basketball coaching experience at the club, high school or college level.

Experience in coaching and knowledge of the fundamentals, tactics, and strategies of coaching Basketball with ability to recruit talented players for the program.

Knowledgeable and current on all College rules and regulations concerning eligibility and recruiting related to Basketball.

Ability to handle emergency situations involving students.

Current driver's license and good driving record.

Ability to travel.

Ability to work evening and weekends and some holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:

Basketball playing experience.

Current CPR and First Aid certification.
