The mission of the Integrated Arts Academy at H.O. Wheeler is to explore academic knowledge through intentional art experiences. The Paraeducator - Planning Room position will work with the principal, teachers, and other support personnel to build positive relationships with school stakeholders, collaborate and communicate effectively through a variety of methods, provide leadership of behavior management and supervision; facilitate the resolution of conflict; plan, organize and manage time and resources, to include but not limited to the following:
Management of school behavioral expectations, including attendance classroom alignment with school-wide goals.
Collaboration with students, parents, and teachers regarding student-related policies.
Collaboration with staff in the creation and alignment of classroom student behavioral expectations and classroom management plans.
Ability to serve as a resource to staff regarding student management issues & social-emotional learning.
Assist in the development of embedded education alternatives for students in need.
Collaborate with special educators in the development of behavioral and social-emotional learning plans.
Support learning of students in the behavioral and social-emotional curriculum. Assist team with reviewing data related to student behavior through the student management system (PowerSchool).
Compiles and shares student discipline data regularly to assist the team in making decisions.
Serve on PBIS and Restorative Practices team.
Attends appropriate meetings regarding student growth and success as needed
Assists in the maintenance of the crisis management plan and school safety requirements.
This is a Full-Time position, five days per week, normal school hours. Health/Dental/Life/Sick Leave/Retirement Benefits are available according to the BEA-Para CBA.
