German Teacher
Burlington High School is seeking a passionate and energetic German Teacher to join their schools. The individual will be committed to high levels of achievement of all students. This position requires teaming with other German teachers to plan curriculum in a professional learning community and support students from diverse backgrounds finding success in high school and beyond.

1. A sample lesson plan that was successfully taught.
2. A classroom management plan with rules, positive reinforcement, and consequences.
3. A sample form of communication such as a letter sent to parents/families for communication about the curriculum, a sample one to two-page unit plan, classroom management, or the start of the year.
4. A rubric for assessment of an assignment, or a grading policy for a course.
5. One or two samples of students work, with all identifying names removed.
6. A sample one- to two-page unit plan or a page of a curriculum map made by the candidate.
7. Pictures of a well-organized classroom, but not pictures of students, optional
Required Qualifications:
Experience teaching German at the high school level.
Experience with Common Core Standards and technology-based learning into world language instruction.
Experience in differentiating instruction and planning curriculum using “backwards design” and formative assessments.
Understanding of Cultural Competency (as explained through Essay 1 on SchoolSpring).
Knowledge of best practices in engaging and motivating students and managing student behaviors.
Preferred Attributes
Participation in professional learning community groups including working collaboratively with colleagues to plan units of study, review student data and progress, and adjust instruction.
A commitment to student-centered learning approaches including personalizing instruction and supporting students meeting core proficiencies
Training and experience with English Language Learners and students with disabilities.
Evidence of strong connection with students and families.
Strong communication skills as evidenced through quality of resume, cover letter, and essays.
SALARY:
As per the Master Agreement between the Burlington Board of School Commissioners and the Burlington Education Association.
