The Burlington School District is seeking a qualified individual who will support students in identifying, planning, and implementing educational/employability services for identified students including those on IEP and 504 programs. This position works closely with our special education faculty to support goals and transitions as articulated in students IEPs and 504s.

Responsibilities
May include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provide activities to meet the goals for identified students including completion of an interest inventory, learning objectives, work plan, and timelines;
Coordinate activities between the school, business community, and community resources by developing and arranging field trips with local services agencies and business partners and arranging for transport of students to activities.
Meet with IEP teams and coordinate with special educators.
Conducts annual transition assessments and helps develop annual transition goals
Arrange and at times provide transportation for students to access their job placement
Supervise job placements on a regular basis
Collaborate with Vocational Rehabilitation to bridge services for students
Provide small group soft skill instruction
Develop contacts with area businesses and government agencies; recruiting business and government participation.
Assist students in establishing an employment portfolio.
Participate in vocational meetings bi-monthly to share information, employment issues, public relations activities, networking and coordination, and implementation of employment training opportunities.
Place students in work experience and job shadowing sites.
Prepare and maintain documentation.
Submit documentation to the Director of Student Support Services.
Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
Perform other duties consistent with job description and assignment.
Requirements:
Knowledge of Job development techniques and vocational programs
Adaptations and modifications of work settings with assistance of special educators/case managers, educational programs, community resources, and government agencies resources.
Ability to:
Work as a team member with limited supervision.
Develop contacts and opportunities, encourage and promote partnerships between businesses, agencies, and the schools.
Develop and implement plans/procedures for employment adaptations and modifications as situations require.
Work effectively with high school-age students with special needs, in large and small groups as well as one-on-one training.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with school staff, parents, students, business agencies, and community contacts.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Create and maintain an accurate records system for documentation regarding employment training and transition issues.
Troubleshoot emergency situations that arise when students are training in the community.
Experience and Training:
Strong record of helping students achieve academic success, primarily with students of color and low-income students
Experience with working with students with disabilities
Training and or experience with Culturally Relevant Education (preferred)
Prior demonstration of exemplary attendance is expected of any candidate for hire.
At least obtained bachelor's degree
This is an anticpated position based on Grant Funding.
