Program Goal
: Looking for a fun summer job supporting youth in a hands on, project based STEAM curriculum? Look no further! The Summer of Yes is an innovative collaboration with several Somerville youth programs, including Somerville Media Center, Parkour Generations Boston, and many more supported by the Somerville Public Schools. This program is a therapeutic, inclusive program for students with different learning and behavior needs as well as students underrepresented in STEM, students from low income families, and multilingual learners. We are looking for an organized, passionate staff to support our dynamic, energetic summer youth program.
Qualifications/Essential Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred) relevant to an Out of School Time or educational preparatory program
Minimum of one-year experience in teaching and/or administration in the field of OST/education or related field is required.
Sensitivity to and/or experience in working with children and adults from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds
Therapeutic support experience preferred
Spanish or Portuguese language proficiency preferred
Must pass CORI/SORI and fingerprinting check
Responsibilities
Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Responsible for the specific group environment including planning, preparation, and organization of materials for delivery of program
Establish relationship with the families of their students and maintains two-way communication
Collaborates with other staff including the SPELL staff to ensure smooth transitions between programs
Willingness to learn and jump in enthusiastically to all activities
Excited to serve as a role model for youth
Experience supporting youth with disabilities, multilingual youth and youth with different learning needs preferred
Manage the daily student sign in/sign out process for their assigned students
Ensure proper safety procedures are followed for staff and students
Responsible for set up and break down of camp activities
Leading group games and community building activities during transition times
Supervising lunch and snack and serving as a support staff to community partner programs
Opportunity to lead your own activities based on your interest and skills
Respond to and report behavior concerns, conflicts, and crises as they arise

Location: Albert F. Argenziano School
Rate: $35/per hour
Mandatory Orientation and Professional Development Days: Week of June 26
Program Schedule:
5 days a week, Monday through Friday
Start Date:
July 10, 2023
End Date: August 4, 2023
Hours: 8:00am - 4:00pm, possible opportunity for split shifts
