The School of International Letters and Cultures (SILC)
at ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY seeks applications for an instructor in the area of Italian Studies
. The successful candidate will be expected to teach upper-division cultural courses in English in asynchronous, synchronous, and in person modes, hold office hours, and work closely with the program director and coordinators to update class materials and assignments.
We are especially interested in candidates with a background in film studies, food studies, environmental humanities, or sustainability studies.
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure eligible appointment made on an academic year basis (Aug.16-May 15). A typical full-time course load is four classes per academic semester (usually a minimum of 140 students per semester). Subsequent annual renewal is possible contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, the needs of the university, and sufficient enrollment in assigned courses. Anticipated start date is August 2022.

Minimum Qualifications:
M.A. in Italian Studies, or related field, by time of appointment.
Three years’ experience in higher education teaching cultural courses in English
Native/near-native proficiency in English.
Desired Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Italian Studies or related field by time of appointment.
Background in film studies, food studies, environmental humanities, or sustainability studies.
Demonstrated proficiency in appropriate current technologies in online instruction.
Experience with Higher Education Online Courses Instructional Design/Development.
Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion among diverse student populations
Native/near native proficiency in Italian.
Evidence of effective online teaching
