Director of Equity and Inclusion **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***., a vibrant and diverse K-12 independent school, is looking for a Director of Equity and Inclusion who will serve as a vital member of the senior administrative team providing year round, mission critical support to ensure that the school community, including students, faculty, staff, administrators, and parents/guardians, is welcoming, inclusive, respectful, and culturally engaged. The Director, in partnership with the leadership team, will oversee the integrated and collaborative implementation of the school’s mission, values, and strategic agenda through curricular, co-curricular, and community programs. We expect that the Director’s role will evolve as the school continues to make progress in its work toward becoming a more just, inclusive, and self-aware community. Essential tasks and responsibilities include: Serve as a member of the Brentwood Leadership Team and as a liaison for the Diversity Council, Parent Affinity Group leaders, and Faculty/Staff Affinity Group leaders. Create a shared sense of responsibility for equity and inclusion by championing multiculturalism and respect for cultural differences. Work collaboratively to advance diversity as a core value central to our mission of enriching the lives of individuals and our community. Provide guidance to the administration in their efforts to increase faculty/staff diversity through recruitment, retention, and development of underrepresented populations. Work in partnership with Admissions Offices and the Alumni Office in the areas of recruitment, admissions, retention, and alumni relations as needed. Partner with local and national resources to provide ongoing training for students, faculty, staff, administration, and parents/guardians. Help oversee student affinity groups including the coordination of cross-cultural opportunities between groups. Provide leadership development for students. Work with the Upper School Director and faculty to develop and teach a 9 th Grade Foundations course that includes multiculturalism, inclusion, ethics, communication, emotional intelligence, and human development. Act as a resource and coach for faculty, staff, and administration to cultivate multicultural skills including the development of curriculum and programs and their engagement with a community of diverse students, colleagues, and families. Coordinate a year-long orientation and information program for families new to independent schools. Qualifications A bachelor’s degree in a related field (master’s preferred) A minimum of five years teaching or administrative experience preferably in an independent school environment Understanding of multicultural education, inclusive classrooms, and pedagogy A demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Demonstrated flexibility, patience, compassion, a sense of humor, and empathy Experience presenting, facilitating, and leading committees of students, parents, faculty, and administrators Ability to educate others and build trust A working knowledge of community building and conflict resolution along with leadership and facilitation skills Bilingual (preferred) This job description is not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, responsibilities, and qualifications required of the person assigned to this position. **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. is dedicated to the creation of a diverse faculty and staff that better represents our student body and the city of Los Angeles.
