This position, which sits in the Division of Academic Affairs and the College of Education, reports to the Director of the Child Development Center and is responsible for ensuring that the Center meets the New Jersey Division of Early Childhood Education (NJDECE) Program Guidelines and Standards. The position also serves as the Master Teacher (MT), Community and Parent Involvement Specialist (CPIS) and Preschool Intervention Referral Specialist (PIRS). The incumbent serves on the Center's Advisory Council.

The Teacher Coach and Social Services Coordinator serves as the liaison to school districts and community agencies to meet children's and families' needs and engages with families through workshops, support groups and family activities.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Leads, coordinates, and participates in all aspects of the role of the Child and Parent Involvement Specialist and Preschool Intervention Referral Specialist.
Provides in-class support for teachers by modeling strategies on how to address persistent challenging behaviors.
Serves as master teacher/coach, including observing and providing feedback and suggestions to teachers using either the Head Start reflective practice or NJDECE reflective cycle model.
Partners with teachers to develop positive behavior support plans (PBS) for individual children, as needed.
Works collaboratively with CDC colleagues to assess the implementation and maintenance of the Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards. Evaluates program and practice to ensure the needs of all children are being met.
Coordinates the administration of the NJDECE state approved screening (ESI-R, I, 3 or K).
Facilitates family workshops to ensure a seamless transition between programs (toddler to preschool, preschool to kindergarten).
Ensures the safe storage of all confidential school files, and that all record keeping procedures comply with DHS licensing laws. Protects the confidentiality of records and information gained as part of professional duties.
Attends or represents the school at local, state, and university meetings, workshops and conferences as appropriate.
Performs other duties as assigned that are appropriate to the position.
Qualifications:
Required qualifications:
New Jersey Teaching Certification in Early Childhood Education from an accredited college or university
Knowledge of and experience using four levels of Pyramid Model, Positive Behavior Supports, TPOT, and ESI-3
Experience in early childhood education working with social service agencies
Knowledge of the NJ Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards section on Social Studies: Family and Life Skills
Experience working with local Early Intervention (EI) teams
Experience teaching in integrated early childhood classrooms
Additional preferred qualifications
:
Coaching and/or supervisory experience in early childhood education
Additional coursework in early childhood mental health consultation
