We are looking to recruit a technician into our mechanical engineering teaching workshops, to support and training students in a range of activities. This area covers a range of processes from conventional and CNC turning and milling to 3D printing, laser cutting and other techniques.
We are looking for someone who would enjoy the opportunity to teach and support young people to achieve their best. Helping them to learn practical engineering skills and guiding, supporting and advising them in the manufacture of their projects.
We are looking for a skilled mechanical engineer with a desire to teach the next generation of engineering graduates. They should be proficient in manual turning and milling with further skills in CAD, CNC machining, 3D printing, laser cutting etc. Candidates should have a minimum of HNC in relevant subject, or equivalent qualifications, plus/or substantial work experience in a relevant role.
In this role you will be leading on teaching activities and use your skills, knowledge, and experience to guide and support the students in their project work. They should have experience in a teaching workshop/lab, problem solving and supporting students to realise their projects/designs, skills in knowledge transfer and training would be advantageous. Excellent communication skills to enable the identification and understanding of student requirements/ideas is essential. Experience in implementing and ensuring Health and Safety guidelines are followed is essential.
