Profile

The Registrar maintains and manages the collections of the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Museum.
**This is a grant funded position.
Duties and Responsibilities
Creates statistical reports, records for artworks, creates digital images and metadata
Prepares packages for shipping assist Curator of Collections in moving objects safely from storage to exhibition spaces, ensuring proper handling
Keeping records of legal ongoing paperwork (
PastPerfect
as well) such as: donors, incoming and outgoing loan contracts
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director and Curator of Collections
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in art history, museum studies or related discipline OR 4 years of related experience.
· Knowledge of Windows based software including: Work, Access, Excel, Photoshop and Publisher.
· Experience working with collection management system databases, PASTPERFECT preferred.
· Good ability to analyze and resolve problems.
· Good oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
· Flexibility to handle multiple requests simultaneously.
· Neat handwriting and ability to manage multiple levels of documentation with attention to detail.
· Good attention to detail and time management skills.
· Ability to walk and carry small and/or unusually shaped objects. Ability to push, pull and navigate carts with heavy pieces of furniture through passageways with and/or without assistance.
· Ability to reach objects and supplies in high places, and climb and balance on ladders. Ability to stoop, kneel, and crouch. Ability to lift and push or pull up to 50 lbs.
· Availability to work required evenings and/or weekends for special events and installations.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Master’s degree in art history, museum studies, or related discipline.
· Proficiency with Windows based software including: Word, Access, Excel, Photoshop and Publisher.
· 2 years of museum related experience in registration or collections management position with an emphasis in permanent collections.
· Working knowledge of professional museum standards, including: legal and ethical best practices in collections management; registration procedures for acquisitions, deaccessions and loans; fine arts insurance, risk management, documentation, art handling, and packing and shipping art; laws pertaining to NAGPRA and others related to repatriation.
· Working knowledge of collections management system database, preferably PASTPERFECT software.
