Job Description:
The David Crawford School of Engineering at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. invites applications for a Lecturer in Construction Management and Civil Engineering, with a presumed start of July 1, 2023, for the Fall 2023 semester.
We seek applicants with a Master's Degree (Ph.D. preferred) and certification or registration in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field. Successful candidates will be committed to delivering a high-quality undergraduate education to Construction Management and Civil Engineering students, professional development, as well as advising undergraduate students majoring in the disciplines of construction management and civil engineering.
Primary teaching responsibility is for undergraduate construction management and civil engineering courses to include Construction Management, Project Control, Scheduling and Construction Productivity, and Professional Issues related to Engineering and Construction.
Teaching assignments may also include support courses for construction management and engineering students, such as estimating, economic decision analysis, and introductory construction and engineering design lab for 1st-year students, general engineering courses; or construction management or civil engineering labs, such as Surveying, BIM, or Estimating.
Responsibilities include related duties such as advising of student capstone projects and some limited academic advising; serving on Department, College, and University committees; participation in student recruiting efforts; and other applicable duties as may be assigned.
Professional development, including consulting, and creative achievement is expected, and resources are available to encourage participation in scholarly endeavors.
Education in Civil Engineering and Construction at Norwich has a rich tradition dating back to the founding of our institution more than 200 years ago. The School of Engineering educates some 400 undergraduates and we graduate 20-30 undergraduate civil engineers and a similar number of undergraduate construction managers, annually. Norwich's diverse residential undergraduate student body includes 2500 campus-based students organized in three colleges.
Requirements:
Minimum requirements are a Master's Degree (Ph.D. preferred) in construction management, civil engineering, or a closely related field. Candidates must have mastery of English and be able to evaluate student work grammatically as well as technically and have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, scholarship, and advising.
Candidates with a demonstrated record of effective prior teaching and the ability to teach construction management courses will be favorably considered, as will candidates with a passion for whole-person education and demonstrated effective teaching experience.
Individuals with relevant practical experience in the fields of construction management, civil engineering, infrastructure design and management, are also highly preferred.
