Job Description
The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***., a prek-8 district, is seeking a dynamic and experienced special education teacher to work at the Curtis Middle School in its specialized ACCESS Program.
The ACCESS program serves middle school students with a range of disabilities impacting social, emotional, and behavioral functioning. The large group environment of a general education classroom may be overwhelming and render the children unable to process the psychosocial and academic demands as they surface in the course of a traditional school day.
ACCESS provides the therapeutic milieu where the children are explicitly taught skills to manage their challenges. The program offers a safe and supportive environment that engages children in social skill development, emotional regulation, and high academic achievement.
The successful candidate must have background and experience with the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis and must possess extensive knowledge of and experience with positive behavior support systems, behavior intervention plans, adolescent development, and therapeutic interventions. The successful candidate will also be knowledgeable about formal diagnostic assessment and ongoing progress monitoring using curriculum-based measurements. The teacher is responsible for the testing and evaluation of students for their three-year reevaluations. Candidate must have training and experience with the administration and interpretation of a wide range of assessments and evaluation tools.
Other responsibilities include:
IEP development
Progress reporting
Collaboration with general education staff with respect to appropriate accommodations and modifications
Ongoing communication with parents/therapists
Progress monitoring
Candidates must possess Massachusetts licensure in Moderate Special Needs 5-9.
