Summary **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. seeks an experienced administrator dedicated to whole-person education to lead our Co-Curricular and Athletic programs. The position would have a start date of July 1, 2022. The Director of Co-Curricular and Athletic Programs is responsible for every aspect of Tabor’s afternoon program which includes both a wide and rich selection of co-curricular options as well as a highly competitive, interscholastic athletic program which is a member of the prestigious Independent School League (ISL). Through the rigorous cultivation of the programs, facilities, and resources that support both the students and the faculty, the Director will oversee an afternoon program that is an extension of Tabor’s broader educational curriculum and mission. The Director will understand and advocate for the place-based opportunities and unique niche our waterfront programs provide in shaping our school’s ethos, appreciating both the life-lessons and liabilities the sea presents. In addition to their administrative responsibilities, the Director should be a visible presence on campus and could potentially serve in the afternoon program one season per year, and will serve as a student advisor, and participate fully in the evening and weekend residential programming unique to a boarding school. The combination of these additional responsibilities is based on the school’s needs and the particular strengths of the person occupying the role. Housing is provided. The Director of Co-Curricular and Athletic Programs is a member of the senior leadership team. They will report to the Associate Head of School (a new position at Tabor which will be in place in July 2022). The Director of Co-Curricular and Athletic programs will : Partner with the Dean of Studies and the Dean of Students in managing and coordinating the full boarding school schedule and experience – academic, co-curricular, and residential. Oversee all Co-Curricular and Athletics programming staff, program leaders, and assistants. Regularly evaluate programs, requirements, and opportunities of the afternoon program within the broader context of the boarding school schedule and curriculum, and advocate for changes to enhance the overall program. As such, the director collaborates on the school’s hiring and staffing processes, determining program objectives, and contributes to regular individual evaluation and professional development. Pursue an understanding of current research on learning science, teaching, and coaching pedagogies, and adolescent development. In partnership with school administration and admissions, support coaches and program leaders in their recruitment of high-level performers and advocate for opportunities for those students to continue their growth trajectory at a high level for post-secondary pursuits. In partnership with the Strategic Marketing and Communication department, develop and manage a sports information system that includes use of social media. Work with program leaders to ensure that potential collegiate student-athletes and student-artists are knowledgeable, supported, and known. Work closely with the CFO to identify and advocate for auxiliary facility use that benefits the school. Sit on the Calendar Committee and collaborate on planning for school-wide events with other areas of school life.
