The Department of Psychological and Quantitative Foundations at the University of Iowa invites applications for an open-rank tenure-track faculty position in the School Psychology program. The academic year position will begin August 17, 2022.  Qualified candidates may be considered for the Emma E. Holmes named professorship.
This position will be in our accreditation seeking school psychology program and affiliated with the Iowa Center for School Mental Health (ICSMH), a partnership between the University of Iowa and the Iowa Department of Education, which aims to expand support for mental health to Pre-K-12 educators and schools across the state. Located in the UI **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***., ICSMH bridges disciplines to provide a network of expertise in education, public health, nursing, psychology, social work, and counseling that impacts student mental health. This is Iowa's first state-wide center supporting mental health in schools. As this position will be affiliated with ICSMH, we are seeking an individual with broad interests and experiences in the field of professional psychology with a specific research focus on mental health within a school and family system. The successful candidate will advise school psychology doctoral students, engage in scholarly research, seek external funding, advance the mission of ICSMH, and teach graduate-level courses. The preferred candidate will have a strong commitment to a scientist-practitioner philosophy with a systems-based perspective, and a program of research related to the investigation and/or implementation of mental health services for children and adolescents, with a particular focus on individuals and communities from marginalized backgrounds. Our program emphasizes the advancement of effective practices to improve students’ learning, behavioral, and mental health. Responsibilities: 
Major responsibilities include conducting an active, funded program of research and scholarship; teaching graduate-level courses consistent with program, departmental, and ICSHM needs; advising and mentoring graduate students in the school psychology program; and provideing program, department, college, and professional service. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with faculty members in school psychology, the ICSMH, and across **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. departments to consider new initiatives within the college and university.

About the Program: 
The School Psychology program at The University of Iowa restarted with a new program in Fall of 2020 with an emphasis on mental health.  The program is working towards accreditation with the American Psychological Association. The original program was continuously accredited from 1992 - 2020.  The university is making a significant investment in growing the program through additional faculty hires and a renewed commitment to addressing critical needs in schools including the addition of a new BCBA program.  The School Psychology program has a long history of excellence in preparing scientist-practitioners for practice as health service psychologists in multiple settings including academia.  In collaboration with ICSMH, we are seeking to expand on our existing partnerships with the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and the Iowa Department of Education to build school mental health research and practice. Given our belief that the profession of psychology is constantly changing to meet human needs, our faculty and students represent a variety of backgrounds and interests and serve a diverse array of communities.

Education Requirement:
Prospective candidates must have earned a doctoral degree in school, counseling, or clinical psychology from an APA-accredited program.
Required Qualifications:
(1) Established record or evidence of strong potential in scholarship relevant to applied psychology, with specific areas of expertise open, (2) Ability to work collaboratively and with diverse populations, (3) Ability to teach, advise, and mentor graduate students in research and practice, and (4) Licensed or eligible for licensure as a psychologist in Iowa.
Desirable Qualifications:
(1) Established record of obtaining external funding, (2) Established record of scholarship and intervention to address mental health issues (broadly defined) in schools and (3) National certification as a school psychologist (NCSP).
