COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary Range:
$73,691 -$102,455 (2021/22 Faculty Salary Schedule); teaching experience, other related professional experience, and academic degrees determine salary placement on a schedule that is competitive with other California Community Colleges. Contracted salary is for 177 days per year (August through May) as specified in the All Faculty Association Contract, Article 8. AFA Contract - Articles

Essential Functions
Prepare, organize, and teach course offerings in US History, including the following areas: African American History and/ or Race, Ethnicity, and Gender in American Culture.
Be committed to participating in the Umoja Learning Community and other underrepresented communities within the discipline.
Demonstrate knowledge of equity based pedagogy and assessments.
Provide knowledge of current issues, trends, research, and practices in the field of African American History. Utilize a wide range of instructional delivery systems, including innovative and creative use of technology.
Show commitment to the development of department and college goals.
Participate in discipline, department, and college functions, such as department meetings, committee work, faculty evaluations, curriculum development, student learning outcome assessments.
SRJC offers courses at two campuses, located in Santa Rosa and Petaluma, as well as multiple satellite locations within the district, including online. While this assignment is for the Santa Rosa campus, please note the district reserves the right of assignment to any location, and that assignments could involve any combination of day or evening classes with weekly office hours being mandatory. Instructors assume responsibility for maintaining currency in the field, for updating existing courses and developing new curricula (including courses that serve community needs, such as short, non-credit, or online courses), assisting in the assessment of student learning outcomes, participating in department activities and other college service such as committee work, managing laboratories, and participating in community outreach on behalf of the college. DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The department seeks a diverse faculty to join a team committed to transformative education, cultural responsiveness, and social justice for a diverse student body. The Social Sciences Department at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. includes the disciplines of Economics, History, and Political Science. The Department has twelve full-time and numerous adjunct faculty members teaching on two campuses. Our department is committed to curriculum that reflects our diverse student body. Beyond the core university transferable courses, the Department's curriculum consists of courses on Women's History, the History of Mexico, Latin American History, Chicanx and Latinx History, African American History, and Race, Ethnicity, and Gender in American Culture. The Department serves roughly 4,000 students each semester. The Department participates in and sponsors a number of cultural community events such as local political debates, film festivals, the Arts and Lectures series, and Women's History Month events. Social Science faculty and students have two libraries available to them. Each library has innumerable print, digital, and media resources.

Minimum Qualifications
REQUIRED
Master's Degree in History; OR Bachelor's Degree in History AND Master's degree in Political Science, Humanities, Geography, Area Studies; Women's Studies, Social Science or any ethnic studies; OR the equivalent; OR possession of a fully satisfied (Life) California Community College Instructor's Credential in History.
Requires a sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

PREFERRED:
Master's Degree in History with an emphasis through research or coursework in African-American History.
Experience in teaching or researching one or more of the following topics: African American History, Race, Ethnicity and Gender in American Culture, History of African Diaspora
Experience working with and/or leading affinity groups, with a focus on African American students (e.g., Umoja) and/ or BIPOC (black, Indigenous and people of color) communities.
Demonstrated commitment to valuing and promoting diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism.
