Emphasis on Physics, Math, and Engineering JOB GOAL : The position is responsible for creating a classroom environment that develops in each student skills of exploration, concept development or invention, and concept application or expansion. This position has certification and/or expertise in Physics, Engineering and Mathematics. The candidate for this position has a deep conceptual understanding of the major concepts in STEM and has the ability to help students develop a deeper understanding and knowledge base to apply those concepts. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Seeking a candidate that can teach Conceptual and AP Physics, all levels of Mathematics through at least Algebra II, and/or Introductory and Applications to Engineering. Works cooperatively with other teachers in planning units and lessons. Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil, to the extent feasible. Evaluate each pupil’s growth in justification, problem-solving, reasoning, collaboration, and other forms of critical thinking and communication skills. Facilitate laboratory work. Bishop Kelly physics has a considerable amount of lab equipment for teaching all aspects of a typical physics curriculum. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district, and/or in self-selected professional growth activities. Performs other duties as many, from time to time be assigned by the supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold, or be capable of acquiring, Standard Secondary Teaching Certificate issued by the Idaho Department of Education with a certification in Physics and/or Mathematics. Must possess the qualities of personality and great character. Must have demonstrated the ability to work well with others, as well as have shown evidence of sound management and organizational skills. Must possess above-average skills in the use of oral and written language. EVALUATION: Evaluation of the performance of this teaching position will be conducted by the Principal and/or Vice-Principal. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Length of Employment: Standard Teaching Contract length of 185-190 days. Daily Schedule: The workday of the BK Faculty begins at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays of each school day. Attendance at on-site school activities and selected off-site activities is considered a responsibility of this position.
