Profile

The Data Manager and Reporting Lead
position is responsible for designing, developing, and modifying the data management infrastructure to expedite data analysis and reporting for the district. The Data Manager ensures that student and staff data is accurate and up to date, designs processes for maintaining all school databases, and seeks ways to improve inter-database syncing. The Data Manager produces timely reports for local, state, and federal authorities, and provides support for district and school staff members using data systems.
The Essential Functions of this position include:
Checks and validates student data in a proactive and ongoing manner to ensure consistency and accuracy.
Creates and enforces procedures for effective data management.
Works with the administration to develop processes, designs databases, and designs and generates reports that provide information about student progress, student attendance, and other issues necessary to monitor school development and improvement and to improve information validity, reliability and access.
Identifies ways the Student Information Software system can be used most effectively and efficiently and collaborate with others to implement changes.
Formulates techniques for quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data.
Produces reports for local, state, and federal purposes.
Works with the Vermont Agency of Education to ensure appropriate, timely, and correct student information for required state reports.
Works with guidance and vendor technical support personnel on moving student information for scheduling (next year prep and rollover), and maintaining and upgrading Student Management System.
Assists with the creation and maintenance of team process documentation.
Analyzes and monitors information and data systems and evaluates their performance to discover ways of enhancing them (new technologies, upgrades, etc.)
Troubleshoots data-related problems and authorizes maintenance or modifications.
Defines problems, collects data, establishes facts and draws valid conclusions related to database process and integrity.
Participates productively in team meetings and professional committees.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with team members.
Complies with Board and administrative policies, regulations, and procedures.
Uses discretion in discussing school affairs, recognizing the value of positive school-community relations.
Maintains a high level of confidentiality.
Prepares/Completes appropriate reports/paperwork.
Attendance in accordance with established days/hours of work.
Perform other tasks and duties as appropriate and/or assigned.
The required education and experience of this position include:
Education:
Minimum Required: Bachelor’s Degree
Experience:
Minimum Required: Must have at least two years of training and/or experience with computer and network operations, and troubleshooting software/hardware problems.
Must be familiar with the Windows computer environment.
Proficiency in MS Excel and Google Sheets required.
Proficiency with database administration, report development, and import/export of data.
Ability to ensure data integrity of student information system.

Sufficient familiarity with the subject to know basic principles and terminology and to understand and solve simple problems.

List Specific Skills And/Or Abilities Required:
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Experience with relational databases, including developing reports, linking tables, and import/export of data in different formats, required. Proficient in spreadsheets.
Ability to manipulate data text files, often in .csv format, using tools such as Excel and Google Sheets for importing and exporting to move between systems.
Ability to manage time effectively and stay organized.
Ability to problem solve and analyze processes.
Ability to demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to stay current with emerging technologies.
Ability to work with data tables in multiple databases.
Ability to work independently within established guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a school district environment using Powerschool Student Information System and completing state reporting is preferred.
