The Cancer Research UK Beatson Institute is a world leading cancer research institute, situated in Glasgow. Approximately 250 researchers split across 30 research groups, consisting of PIs, postdoctoral scientists, PhD students and scientific officers, drive cutting-edge research into the molecular mechanisms of cancer development. As well as core support from Cancer Research UK, the Institute also receives an additional third of its total income from external grants and industry collaborations. It has an excellent reputation for fundamental cancer research, including world-class metabolism studies and renowned in vivo modelling of tumour growth and metastasis. Its research ethos is about excellence, honesty, openness, accountability, and integrity.
The diversity of our staff and students is what makes the CRUK Beatson Institute a great place to work and advance discoveries in cancer research. Family friendly policies, our collaborative ethos, a focus on good mental health and well-being and opportunities for all, help to create an enjoyable and inclusive workplace where your voice matters.
This is an exciting research opportunity to join our team of scientists interrogating the role of the immune response in cancer development and spread. Metastasis is the most serious complication of cancer and the tumour immune microenvironment is a key factor in patient treatment response. The successful applicant will use state-of-the-art techniques in cancer immunology (live cell and tissue imaging, 3D multiplexed immunofluorescence by advanced microscopy, RNA sequencing, large panel flow cytometry) to investigate the interplay between tumour promoting and tumour antagonistic immune cell activity in cancer using highly patient relevant mouse models.  We already have a large amount of important and exciting data in this area so now is a key time to join a project with a lot of momentum and excellent established collaborations.
The successful applicant will already have or will soon complete a PhD in Immunology. Skills in the advanced technologies above are desirable, but intelligence, curiosity, enthusiasm, and a desire to work in a supportive team are essential.

The Cancer Research UK Beatson Institute is committed to increase the number of female scientists at this level and encourages female applicants to apply.
