This position can be remotely located. Travel to Mechanicsburg, PA office and throughout Pennsylvania is required. Occasional unscheduled travel may be required with a 24 hours’ notice. The University of Pittsburgh’s Mechanicsburg Child Welfare Training Programs (Resource Center) is seeking a Curriculum and Instructional Specialist. The Curriculum and Instructional Specialist will be responsible for designing, developing, and revising child welfare curriculum to be delivered in a variety of formats, including classroom, online, and blended learning environments, for the Resource Center.
The Curriculum and Instructional Specialist functions as a team member for the Curriculum and Trainer Development Department of the Resource Center. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in training and development, adult education, or closely related field required, Master’s degree preferred. Demonstrable competence and experience required in one or more of the following areas: adult learning, needs assessment, training design, development, delivery and evaluation is required. Knowledge of Pennsylvania child welfare practice is preferred. Competence and experience in designing and developing for Instructor-led training (ILT), online, and blended learning environments highly desirable. Knowledge of the ADDIE model of instructional design, excellent analytical, critical thinking, interpersonal collaboration, problem-solving, planning/organizing, and facilitation skills required. Attention to detail, ability to plan and meet deadlines, and flexibility to quickly adapt required. Must possess proficiency with Microsoft Office software including PowerPoint. Willingness and ability to develop necessary skill with relevant tools and software as needed. Experience with online courseware development applications strongly preferred. Minimum one to three years’ experience in instructional design and development for ILT, online, and/or blended learning environments. Experience collaborating with subject matter experts strongly preferred as well as experience in training delivery and/or group facilitation. Must be able to travel long distances on a frequent basis, lift up to 30 pounds, set up and prepare audiovisual equipment for meetings and presentations, stand for up to 6 hours.
Travel is required for this position. A valid driver’s license is required. PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check will be required as a condition of employment.
