Instructinal Coach - Math & Science
The Instructional Coach will work as a colleague with classroom teachers to support student learning at Burlington High School. The Instructional Coach will focus on individual and group professional development that will expand and refine the understanding of researched-based effective instruction in Math and Science content areas. In order to meet this purpose, the Instructional Coach will provide personalized support that is based on the goals and identified needs of individual teachers.
Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree preferred from an accredited college/university.
2. Current Vermont Teaching License on file in the central office.
3. Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience.
4. Experience in researched-based instructional practices.
5. Proficiency with curriculum software.
6. Experience with Proficiency-Based Learning
7. Experience hosting instructional workshops
8. Demonstrate knowledge using a variety of assessment tools
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Work as a colleague with classroom teachers to support student learning
• Assist teachers with creating instructional goals
• Introduce researched-based instructional practices to the faculty
• Create the Instructional PD plan for the school year
• Create and manage a peer-observation system
• Create positive relationships with teachers and administrators
• Work in collaboration with the Proficiency-Based Learning Coordinator
• React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned
• Assist teachers with designing instruction based on assessment data
• Create strategies to increase math and science state test scores
