I. JOB OVERVIEW
Job Description Summary:
Writing is a central component of GW's , which requires that all undergraduates must complete 4.0 credit hours of a First Year Writing seminar (UW 1020) and at least 6.0 credit hours across Writing in the Disciplines (
WID
) courses. The University Writing Program interacts with nearly every one of the university's 3,000 first year students. In addition to hundreds of writing courses, the program organizes and workshops, compiles writing guidance for the campus community and manages the .
The Operations Coordinator primarily supports the Writing in the Disciplines (
WID
) division and the University Writing Program (
UWP
). The Operations Coordinator is also the front office representative, serving as first contact for all students, faculty, staff, parents, and external constituents who visit or contact the
UWP
. As the front office representative, the Operations Coordinator represents the
UWP
to students, faculty, high-level administrators, and external guests.
The majority of the Operations Coordinator's work is in support of
WID
. This person handles most of the administrative work for
WID
. That includes: fielding requests from
WID
faculty for Graduate Assistants and PWPs (undergraduate Peer Writing Preceptors), tracking, and assigning Graduate Assistants for roughly 50 courses per semester; timekeeping and monitoring labor for roughly 15 PWPs per semester; tracking WID's budget; organizing, making purchases for, and submitting expense reports for
WID
events; maintaining
WID
pages on the
UWP
website; and responding to internal and external requests for data on all aspects of
WID
The Operations Coordinator also supports the Executive Director of the University Writing Program including the First Year Writing division with daily administrative operations and communications as they arise. The Operations Coordinator establishes and maintains relationships with faculty and staff throughout
CCAS
and in the
CCAS
Dean's Office, and works closely with Associate Directors of advising in
CCAS
SEAS
, and the
GWSB
Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/
GED
plus 3 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

* Working Knowledge of Oracle, Banner, DataMarts, Google Applications (Google Drive, Google Forms), Concur, DegreeMap.
* Two years of experience in a similar position.
* Experience working in higher education administration or in a University setting.
* Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
* Strong verbal/written communications skills.
* Proficiency with office equipment, supply inventory and service orders.
* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs (Office, PowerPoint, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat.
* Ability to build strong working relationships with school administrators, faculty, staff and students.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
* Knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping procedures.

$19.57 - $25.42
