Qualifications
High school diploma
Experience working in a grades 6-12 school setting or with youth in a summer program
Aspiring mathematics teachers or those seeking practicum hours are encouraged to apply
Preferred Qualifications
MA DESE Educator License in Mathematics, 5-8 and/or 9-12 preferred
Responsibilities
Facilitate the application of conceptual understanding and deepen students’ conceptual understanding through small-group and one-on-one math support in topics from Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, /or Calculus
Support student access to rigorous, grade-level content through applied instruction and/or modeling
Lead morning Advisory period using provides curriculum
Create a culture of math exploration, and counteract pressures to seek and reward right answers
Administer pre- and post-assessments
Create nurturing learning environment and hold students to high expectations
Facilitate an afternoon club with up to 10 students
Monitor the professional performance of student peer mentors, model professional behavior, evaluate growth

Location: East Somerville Community School
Stipend: $25/hour
Mandatory Orientation and Professional Development Days: Week of June 26, 2023
Program Schedule
July 10, 2023 – August 4, 2023,
Monday through Friday, 9am-2pm, 5hrs/day
Up to 1.5 hrs/week of staff meetings prep time
