The School of Computing and Augmented Intelligence (SCAI) in the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University (ASU) seeks applicants for multiple full-time lecturer positions beginning August 2022. This position is in primary support of the Computer Science and Engineering programs, but lecturers are expected to support the instructional mission of all SCAI programs. SCAI has locations on the Tempe and Polytechnic Campuses so some travel between locations should be expected. In addition, SCAI has an online presence and faculty participate in the creation of curriculum and delivery of instruction in the online modality. This is a non-tenure track appointment with a fixed term academic year contract. Appointments will be made at the rank of Principal Lecturer, Senior Lecturer or Lecturer commensurate with the candidate’s experience and accomplishments. Opportunities exist to augment the academic year salary by assisting with summer instruction.
The successful candidate for this position will have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching that incorporates active learning. Lecturers also contribute to the service mission of SCAI programs through student outreach activities, service on committees, and industry engagement activities. Faculty are also expected to remain engaged through professional development and external services.
Earned doctorate in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related discipline is required. Preference will be given to those with proven teaching skills in graduate and undergraduate education in both full-immersion and digital immersion formats. Preference will also be given to candidates that have the ability to teach in multiple areas across the curriculum including advanced knowledge in specialized topics such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Big Data, Programming Languages, Cybersecurity, and Software Engineering. A commitment to work collaboratively with a diverse student population is also desirable.
