A. SCOPE OF WORK:
The executive director will create a sustainable principal development system alignment to the BSD School Leaders Framework. The key areas of responsibility include:
Supervision of 12 Principals
Development and implementation of a principal professional learning program.
Development and implementation of an assistant principal professional learning program.
Development of an aspiring principals program for BSD staff interested in school leadership.
Additionally, this position will be responsible for aspects of recruitment, hiring and retention of principals, paying particular attention to Strategic Plan Priority Area 4 :
Educators Who Look Like Our Students
Attend and participate as needed in BSD Board meetings.
In coordination with district leaders create and communicate a culture of equity, build shared leadership, and develop a culture of continuous improvement.

Supervises and supports principals to foster deeper learning, to reduce racial, enthnic, and ability-based disparities, and to create equitable and anti-racist schools.
Helps principals and assistant principals grow as instructional leaders.
Coaches and supports individual principals and engage in effective professional learning strategies to help principals and assistant principals grow as instructional leaders.
Uses evidence of principals’ effectiveness to determine necessary improvements in principals’ practice to foster a positive educational environment that supports the diverse cultural and learning needs of students.
Engages principals in the formal district principal evaluation process in ways that help them grow as instructional leaders. Support principals in the formal evaluation process of their assistant principals.
Advocates for and informs the coherence of organizational vision, policies and strategies to support schools and student learning.
Assists the district in ensuring schools are culturally/socially responsive and have equitable access to resources necessary for the success of each student.
Engages in their own development and continuous improvement to help principals grow as instructional leaders.
Embeds learning and coaching to help principals and assistant principals develop essential mindsets to build a school culture that is focused on advancing instructional practices that accelerate student learning, improve student outcomes and reduce disparities.
Leads strategic change that continuously elevates the performance of schools and sustains high-quality educational programs and opportunities across the district.
Develops an aspiring principals program to ensure professional growth opportunities for staff interested in school leadership.
C. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
Minimum Required: A Master’s degree in education leadership
Licensure
VT Principal and Superintendent’s License
Experience:
Minimum Required: Successful experience as a principal.
Experience with staff supervision
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Working knowledge:
Sufficient familiarity with the subject to know basic principles and terminology and to understand and solve simple problems.
General knowledge:
Sufficient knowledge of a field to perform most work in normal situations. The work calls for comprehension of standard situations and includes knowledge of most of the significant aspects of the subject.
Thorough knowledge
Advanced knowledge of the subject matter. The work calls for sufficient comprehension of the subject area to solve unusual as well as common work problems, to be able to advise on technical matters and to serve as a resource on the subject for others in the organization.

List Specific Skills And/Or Abilities Required:
Demonstrate cultural competence with diverse groups across race, ethnicity, religion, gender, class, and sexuality
Demonstrated success in program planning/management and training/facilitation
Experience writing concise and accurate reports and records
Experience analyzing and reporting data, and working with principals to do this with their staff
