**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.'s College of Arts & Sciences invites applications for the position of Instructor or Assistant Professor of Nutrition in the Department of Family & Consumer Sciences to engage in teaching and research in the Master of Science in Nutrition program as well as the undergraduate program in food & nutrition, including the didactic program in dietetics. This is a renewable term 9-month appointment beginning Sept 1, 2023, with potential for teaching one course during the summer term
We are seeking a well-qualified faculty member to teach both in the new online graduate nutrition program (with instructional responsibilities in areas such as nutritional epidemiology, project design, metabolism, nutrition communication and writing) and the undergraduate program (with responsibility for courses such as human nutrition, nutrition research, and medical nutrition therapy). Expected teaching responsibilities are for about two courses per term as well as an opportunity for teaching one graduate course during the summer term as an add-on contract. The position includes advising and mentoring responsibilities, along with graduate project/thesis supervision. The successful applicant will also be expected to contribute service to the Department of Family & Consumer Sciences, including participation in curricular development for the undergraduate and graduate programs and university-wide recruiting events, among others.
Requirements:
An earned Master of Science degree in nutrition or a closely related discipline. A PhD is preferred but not required.
Registered Dietitian credential
Equivalent (may include part-time instruction) of two years of full-time teaching experience at the college level, including experience in online course design and teaching as well as curricular development and assessment.
Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching and scholarship.
Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral communication skills for diverse audiences.
Desired competencies and qualities:
Intermediate to advanced computer and statistical analysis skills
Ability to create engaging online course designs that consider appropriate and equitable assessments, use of technology, and learning activities to achieve desired program and course outcomes
Self-motivation and innovativeness
Skills in analytical problem-solving, organization, teamwork, and community engagement
Consistent use of sound judgment, ethical decision making, and professionalism
A desire to create and sustain a culture of student support and success as well as for personal growth and development as an educator, including teaching, scholarship, and service.
