The Sustainability Academy (SA) Elementary School is seeking a permanent building substitute teacher to join our team beginning in the 2020-21 school year. The building substitutdes provides instructional coverage when teachers are not in attendance. The building substitute will play a vital role in providing a consistent, safe environment conducive to learning by following the plans and procedures put in place by the classroom teachers. This is a per diem, school year position that would begin in August 2020.
The Sustainability Academy is the country's first elementary school focused entirely on Education for Sustainability, located in the Old North End of Burlington, Vermont. At SA, we define
sustainability as the shared responsibility for improving quality of life for all—economically, socially, and environmentally—now and for future generations.
Qualifications include:
Demonstrated belief that all students, regardless of their background or circumstance, can learn and achieve at high levels.
Demonstrated experience in differentiating and teaching visual arts, including teaching students with disabilities and emergent bilingual (English learners - EL) students.
Demonstrated ability to engage and motivate students to learn through use of a variety of individual, small group, large group, technology-based, and other high interest teaching strategies.
Experience in working collaboratively with colleagues to plan curriculum and assessments, review student progress, and analyze data to adjust instruction.
Bachelor's desgree required, teacher licensure preferred.
