ECMS THEATRE TROUPE PRODUCER
Role Description:
· Be the person responsible for the financial, strategic and managerial aspects of the production
· Be the liaison between school staff and Director/Music Director and vendors
· Serve as Crew Student Supervisor
· Support the Director in choosing an age-appropriate musical and/or play for middle school students
· Obtain the rights for the production
· Plan and oversee a budget for the chosen show
· Schedule, market and maintain a production timeline
· Recruit and oversee staff including Director, Music Director, Set/Designer/Build Manager and parent volunteer committee chairs (may include Costumes, Hair & Make-up, Concessions, Publicity, etc.)
· Set fundraising goals as needed
· Maintain financial records and work with the school office to assure payroll and outside bills are taken care of
· Collaborate with school administrative team and school office on various show requirements (including rehearsal locations, numbers for crew/crew member assignments, technical needs, etc.)
· Create a timetable for meetings, auditions, crew interviews, rehearsals, and performances that fit with the school schedule
· Communicate via email to Theatre Troupe families about meetings, rehearsals, updates and performance reminders
· Check that the Theatre Troupe tab on the school website is updated
· Conduct pre-audition and post-casting parent meetings
· Collect information forms for all who audition on audition days and submit final cast list to school for emailing out to student families
· Conduct crew interviews, select crew and submit final list to school for emailing out to student families
· Maintain accurate records of student family contact information
· Attend and monitor the stage closet clear-out in January and the storage container clear-out one week after the show with the Build Manager, crew students and families
· Supervise lunch on early release days for those students called for rehearsal
· Prepare art materials and supervise crew students in prop making one afternoon per week in January and February
· Attend Build Weekend to support Set Designer/Build Manager in set construction/decoration
· Attend Saturday meeting with crew students for Lights and Sound training prior to tech rehearsal, the weekend prior to opening night
· Attend Sunday tech rehearsal, the weekend prior to opening night
· Review and proof production program
· Attend all call-times and performances
· Handle emergencies inside and outside of the theater during performances
· Attend post-mortem meeting after final performance
· Approve any reimbursements to volunteers and/or others who worked or purchased items for the production
· Maintain school rules and values during entire process, including an understanding that school comes first
Desired Qualifications/Traits:
· Have a degree in a field working with individuals, groups and families
· Have experience working in school theater production
· Have experience working with creative teams
· Have experience working with middle school students and families
· Have a passion for shaping and achieving the Theatre Troupe’s success
· Anticipate and manage artistic needs within the constraints of schedules and budgets
· Have excellent listening and communication skills and a collaborative attitude
· Be a problem solver with strong interpersonal skills
· Have effective multitasking and organizational skills which are required to manage multiple aspects of the production
· Have the ability to work flexibly under pressure, to prioritize and to meet deadlines
· Have a high level of self-motivation and ability to work towards goals
