East Tennessee State University (ETSU) James H. Quillen College of Medicine (QCOM) seek a dynamic, collaborative, and experienced physician leader with a strong clinical, operational, and academic foundation to serve as Chair, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN). For nearly 50 years, QCOM at ETSU has been a national leader in rural medicine and is dedicated to providing community-focused medical education and evidence-based patient care to improve health in rural Southern Appalachia.
The Chair of OB/GYN will be a nationally recognized leader with working knowledge of an academic medical center in a dynamic medical marketplace in a position of senior responsibility, clinical service, and administration. The next leader will possess a demonstrated record of excellence in clinical care and scholarship, will be committed to recruiting and training a diverse workforce of OB/GYN faculty and other providers, and preferably have prior success in attracting extramural peer-reviewed and/or industry research funding. This individual will plan, manage and implement academic programs fostering the professional and scholarly growth of the faculty of the Department of OB/GYN and Women's health clinical services.
Candidates must hold the degree of M.D. or D.O., ACGME accredited residency training in OB/GYN, and Board certification. The chair must possess qualifications for appointment to at least the associate professor rank at the QCOM. The successful candidate will be a transparent, visible, and accomplished leader with a reputation as an outstanding clinician, communicator, and educator. This is a tremendous opportunity for a physician leader to advance the academic, clinical, research, and service activities of the Department to positively impact the health of patients, families, and communities throughout the upper northeast of Tennessee.
