We are looking for talented professionals to join our team at the University of Maryland Medical Center.
General Summary:
YouthWorks is Baltimore's summer jobs program, operated by the Mayor's Office of Employment Development, which employs thousands of youth each summer. Typically, youth participating in UMMC YouthWorks program hold positions within various departments of the hospital. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the need for social distancing, UMMC YouthWorks program will be virtual. To support youth and assist them in maximizing their summer experience in the UMMC virtual YouthWorks program, Job Coaches will assist participants in navigating the curriculum to maintain collaborative community partnerships that positively impact hospital-community relationships.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead and support a cohort of 10 youth
Build and maintain a rapport with each cohort member
Monitor and assess the performance of the cohort and provide professional development coaching, as necessary
Facilitate the learning and development of a community team service project
Facilitate team building training support for youth development
Ensure the cohort effectively and timely completes all assigned tasks and/or priority items
Provide regular individual video conference sessions with each youth participant
Ensure data quality for attendance and task completion
Facilitate an end of the day daily brief with cohort
Other duties as assigned

What You Need to Be Successful:
Education and Experience
Minimum of a high school diploma or G.E.D.
One year of youth development, career counseling or community relations experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to lead youth team meetings
Ability to lead and facilitate experiential learning in a virtual environment
Interest and passion for working with youth
Empathy and experience working with youth from historically oppressed areas
Familiarity and comfort with analyzing and adapting to support a student's learning needs
Familiarity with coping strategies in crisis cases which allow individuals to overcome their problems or fears to create a more conducive development and learning opportunity
Experience using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to learning barriers
Familiarity with building career and/or job readiness skills with youth
Comfort using Zoom or WebEx and online learning platforms to facilitate learning
Ability to manage and facilitate youth cohort communications via group video conferencing, email or instant messaging app, and one on-one mentoring relationship
Mature, self-starter with the desire and ability to initiate and execute projects
Additional Requirements:
