Job Description
Galvin Middle School is seeking a skilled and dynamic educator for our Therapeutic program. This program serves a cohort of students requiring specialized instruction and social-emotional support in addition to academic programming. This program is currently running for grades 6-8 with a teacher and School adjustment counselor. We are looking to add to this Team to upport student needs.
You are also supported by student services individuals included but not limited to School Adjustment Counselors, School Counselors, School Psychologist, nursing staff, BCBA, ABAs and educational assistant support.
Job Description
Provide specialized academic instruction to students with Emotional Impairments and other disabilities
Collaborate with Teams of teachers, service providers, Educational Assistants and ABAs to provide accommodations and modifications to the curriculum as needed
Consult with paraprofessionals and teachers on a regular basis to develop/maintain instructional practices and routines that best support students in the classroom setting to ensure access to the curriculum
Collaborate in the development of a schedule aligned with the schedule of the student’s general education programming
Serve as a liaison for students assigned to the classroom
Communicate with families in a consistent manner
Collect data for behavior intervention plans and IEP goals
Collaborate with Student Service Coordinator, BCBA, Adjustment Counselor, other teachers/Teams, ABAs and educational assistants to create and implement individualized support/intervention plans
Create self-regulation and social skills lessons to implement both within and in addition to the classroom setting
Support students who are in emotional and behavioral crisis
A builder of relationships and ability to look at the whole child in terms of academic and social emotional needs
Other duties as assigned by the Student Service Coordinator, Director of Student Services, and the building principal.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree
Valid MA licensure in Special Education (moderate, moderate/severe)
Experience working with students in a sub-separate supported setting
Preferred:
Masters Degree
Dual certification
Experience or understanding of working with students with emotional needs or trauma
An understanding of Team support and collaboration to support needs of students and classroom
