position in the School of Integrative Physiology and Athletic Training (IPAT)
. The Clinical Assistant Professor is a non-tenure track position with specialization in Athletic Training and will begin in August 2023.
Required Qualifications
An earned Masters in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, or a closely related field.
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
Evidence of successful classroom and laboratory teaching experience related to Athletic Training
Evidence of working as a certified athletic trainer for at least 1-2 years
Eligibility for licensure in the state of Montana
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience with a CAATE accredited program
Professional service with the CAATE, BOC, NATA, or other professional association
Three or more years working as a certified athletic trainer
Evidence of engagement in scholarly activities
Contemporary expertise in Therapeutic Interventions
Position Details
10-month academic year, non-tenure track
Salary is dependent upon qualifications.
Responsibilities
Teaching:
Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of Athletic Training commensurate with areas of expertise. Primary teaching responsibilities will vary depending on each candidate’s specific area(s) of contemporary expertise. Demonstrate a strong commitment undergraduate and graduate student mentorship.
Service:
Engage in clinical practice providing services through the Athletic Training outreach program which currently includes Griz Hockey, Griz Lacrosse and Missoula Area Youth Hockey Association. Provide service to the department, college, university, community, and professional organizations
Scholarly Activity:
Demonstrate engagement in scholarly activities to support program and student research efforts.

The Athletic Training Program was one of the first in the nation, established in 1971, and initially approved by the NATA in 1977 under the direction of the late NATA Hall of Famer Naseby Rhinehart and Wally Schwank. With its rich history and longstanding tradition in athletic training education, the AT program is well respected across the country and one of the top programs in the Northwest region. In 2015, the CAATE granted accreditation for the delivery of a Master’s degree in Athletic Training. The program is under review by the CAATE currently with a scheduled site visit November 2022 and anticipates continued accreditation.
The School of Integrative Physiology and Athletic Training (IPAT)
is a unit within the College of Health
. Undergraduate areas of emphasis include: Exercise Science (Applied and Pre-professional), Sports Medicine, Pre-Athletic Training, and Applied Human Physiology. IPAT offers the M.S. degree in Exercise Science, M.A.T in Athletic Training and Ph.D. in Integrative Physiology and Rehabilitation Sciences. IPAT houses multiple research facilities
including the Human Performance Laboratory, Biomechanics Laboratory, the Montana Center for Work Physiology and Exercise Metabolism, and the Montana Youth Sports Safety Institute.
