Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary is commensurate with experience.
Position Summary
Provide piano accompaniment for classes, rehearsals, performances, auditions and juries, as assigned by supervisor. Reports to Director of School of Music.
Position Information
Piano Accompaniment
Provide piano accompaniment in jazz, popular, Afro-Cuban vocal/instrumental ensemble/solo rehearsals and
performances.
Improvising/Reading from charts and lead sheets
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of fundamentals of harmony; and skill in playing one or more musical instruments as accompanist. Ability to se lect appropriate dance music; ability to compose or improvise music, ability to coach performing artists; ability to transcribe music from recordings.

Experience:
Experience which has led to a thorough familiarity with accompanying choral groups and soloists (instrumental and vocal) or interpretive dances. Depending upon the position to be filled, experience in coaching performing artists may be required .

Education:
Special training or coursework that would facilitate composing and improvising musi c and/or coaching and accompanying .
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with jazz, popular, Afro - Cuban vocal/instrumental solo/ensemble repertoire and styles
highly preferred.
Must be advanced pianist with highly developed sight - reading and improvisation skills.
Must be able to read open scores
Successful record of achievement in solo and collaborative piano performance
