Job Description:
The College of Arts and Sciences
and Department of Catholic Studies
invite applications for a full-time, non-tenure track (Lecturer) faculty position in Catholic Studies with the ability to contribute to the University's new Institute for Sustainability and Social Justice, beginning Fall 2023
. This position is open-discipline within the humanities and social sciences - this might include candidates with degrees in English/Languages, History, Music, Philosophy, Political Science, Religious Studies, Sociology, and Theology.
Candidate must be able to teach the University's signature Human Journey Seminars: Great Books in the Catholic Intellectual Tradition. Teaching (4/4 load) will consist of Human Journey Seminars I and II (CIT 201 and 202), First-Year Writing Seminar (FYWS 125) and discipline-appropriate Foundational Core courses, with upper-level Catholic Studies courses available based on department needs. Service will include participating in Sacred Heart's freshman advising program and assisting with programming put on by the department, Center for Catholic Studies, and Institute for Sustainability and Social Justice.
Requirements:
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in a humanities or social science discipline and demonstrate excellence in teaching. Teaching and scholarship intersecting with Catholic thought is required; experience with seminar pedagogy is highly desirable.
