Essential Job Duties:
Primary responsibilities of the CARES Coordinator include, but are not limited to:
Engage in behaviorally and clinically based, one-on-one assessments with students to identify and mitigate barriers to personal and academic success, including threat assessment toward self and others
Provide timely and appropriate referrals to support services within the university and coordinate intervention plans through the use of and collaboration with various university and off-campus resources in order to minimize or resolve student concerns
Monitor and track individual cases and student progress to ensure compliance with recommendations, on-going assessment and address new or emerging concerns as they arise, including safety planning
Collaborate as part of the University's NCSU Cares team, a cross-campus support team designed to provide assessment and practical support for students of concern; when appropriate, provide assistance to the University's Behavioral Assessment Team (BAT), a cross-campus team designed to assess and mitigate potential threats to the campus community ; serve as part of the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART)
Assist in providing comprehensive outreach and consultation services to faculty, staff and students through the use of traditional in-person presentations, social media, and other creative multi-media efforts; collaborate with other campus offices to ensure coherent integration of messaging and education of the campus community
Complete training in QPR (Question, Persuade, & Refer Suicide Prevention), and offer programs for students, faculty and staff
Assist in managing a database (Maxient) related to student concerns by making sure all correspondence, notes, and action items are accurately documented
Assist in the appropriate and ethical assessment of data collected by and about students of concern in an effort to develop and maintain best practices
Create and manage re-entry strategies for those students returning to school after a psychological hospitalization
Assist with Postvention contacts and support

Minimum Experience/Education:
Require post-baccalaureate credentials or a bachelor's degree plus alternative or equivalent professional training and experience may be substituted for the advanced degree on an exceptional basis.
Required Qualifications:
Excellent interpersonal skills including both oral and written communication in a variety of settings
Demonstrated ability to identify problems and use sound judgement and reasoning to make crucial decisions autonomously
Demonstrated experience in providing individualized support for students in crisis or who have been identified as exhibiting concerning or worrisome behaviors
Ability to establish collaborative relationships with campus and community partners
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience with risk assessment
Demonstrated knowledge of case management systems (preferably in a higher education setting), and/or experience working as part of a case management support team
Demonstrated history of effective collaborations across a complex array of multiple agencies within a university setting
Experience in the creation and implementation of large-scale marketing efforts, including those designed to utilize social media outlets
Excellent skill and experience in working with diverse, often underrepresented, student populations
Strong working knowledge of various federal and state laws affecting issues of privacy and confidentiality, disability accommodations and support, and response to sexual violence
Experience with supervision and training
Broad knowledge of best practices and current national trends related to higher education case management
Licensed social workers are strongly encouraged to apply

Independently licensed in a mental health field, or the ability to achieve full licensure within six months of hire
