What You Will Do:
I. General Summary
Under general direction, responsible for strategic planning design and implementation of core end user technologies. As the teams Desktop Engineer, you will be responsible for the desktop experience. This person will coordinate and or implement various software upgrades, including planning and scheduling, testing and project management.
II. Principal Responsibilities and Tasks
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. These are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified.
1. Create custom scripts utilizing Microsoft scripting technologies and components such as PowerShell, Batch, VBScript, WMI, .NET and XML for captured images. Other scripting languages are a plus.
2. Test, create and deploy custom package in SCCM to endpoints within the organization.
3. Responsible for oversight of daily SCCM application deployment and OS deployments.
4. Assists with SCCM infrastructure build out and maintenance on a periodic basis.
5. Assists in providing patch management oversight across the organization.
6. Collaborate with other Engineers as it pertains to Active Directory and Group Policy structure.
7. Design, test and implement desktop/user configuration group policies.
8. Design, improve and maintain corporate remote assistance tool (Bomgar).
9. Perform advanced troubleshooting across all aspects of the SCCM platform.
10. Engage on a growing Microsoft 365 and Intune infrastructure.
11. Serve as an escalation point for tier 1, 2, application, project team and end user issues.
12. Independently develops new and refines existing troubleshooting methodologies for complex user problem calls to resolve hardware, software and user training issues.
13. Provides technical guidance to customer base in the use of supported software products and loads server software in accordance with established UMMC standards.
14. Analyze user needs and develops recommendations for submission to department. May conduct testing of user software against standard suite of supported software for department use. May explore new technologies for pilot and evaluation. May design, implement, and project manage system-wide technical solutions such as electronic messaging, server virtualization, directory services, remote access, etc., to meet organizational goals.
15. In coordination with departmental management, ensures computer systems meet regulatory agency requirements.
16. Reviews real-time trending information, and contacts Tiered support, when necessary. Maintains regular contact with users and supervisor/manager regarding status of open or pending service calls.
17. Studies vendor products to determine those which best meet organization needs; assists in presentation of information to management resulting in purchase, and installation of hardware, software, and telecommunications equipment.
18. Prepares proposals, cost/benefit analyses, and feasibility studies. Provides liaison support between the PC/LAN team, vendors and internal support group as needed.
What You Need to Be Successful:
1. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent related professional experience is required. Additional certifications may be required.
2. 5 years experience dealing with Microsoft Servers, Microsoft Networks, Desktop Computing and Large Scale Application Systems.
3. Five years of experience designing, implementing and supporting LAN network operating systems, server virtualization products, electronic messaging products, multi-server, multi-domain AD forest environments, in a multi-site environment with over 1000 users.
IV. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Must have advanced technical skills and working knowledge in at least one or more vertical. List is not inclusive as technology changes often.

6. Demonstrates background in complex and distributed environments.
7. Experience providing support maintenance and security for and Microsoft Operating Systems.
8. Strong knowledge in scripting and use of various languages.
9. Intermediate understanding of networking (Cisco, SAN Fabric, F5 etc.).
10. Proficient with installation, configuration and management of targeted vertical(s).
11. Intermediate knowledge of ITSM frameworks.
12. Will support multiple programs and systems requiring strong multitasking abilities.
