Job Description Summary:
The Center for Community Resilience (
CCR
) at the Milken Institute School of Public Health, part of the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***., seeks to improve the health of communities by enabling cross-sectoral partners to align policy, program, and practice to address adverse childhood experiences in the context of adverse community environments-the Pair of ACEs. Our innovative framing of ACEs, with the explicit focus on equity and prevention, has influenced local initiatives, programs, public health practice and local, state, and federal policy. Over the past seven years, our networks have successfully led systems and policy change focused on addressing long-standing economic, social, and health disparities by partnering with community, integrating service delivery, and building political will for change.
The Center for Community Resilience is seeking a Research Associate to conduct mixed-methods research. The Research Associate will apply research skills, critical thinking, discipline, and creativity to develop plans and execute research to provide
CCR
partners with high quality research findings that help them develop a systems lens for understanding community contexts as well as identify policy levers and practice change strategies to address the Pair of ACEs in their communities.
Responsibilities Include:
Research and Research Management:
Manage all research activities for assigned Resilience Catalysts for Public Health sites, including data collection activities with partners and community stakeholders, presentation of research findings, and coordinating the production of research deliverables.
Foster and maintain working relationship with local health department staff and community stakeholders.
Conduct qualitative data analysis, including the development of codebooks and assessing the reliability of data coding.
Collaborate with the Associate Director of Research and Research Assistants to develop system dynamics models.
Explore, develop, apply, and evaluate innovative research methods to best support
CCR
programs and research.
Dissemination:
Report out research findings and implications to internal
CCR
staff, partners and community stakeholders in technical reports, visuals, and through both oral and written presentation platforms.
Present results at professional conferences.
Publish written reports in peer-reviewed journals and blogs
Provide mentorship and supervision for students and research assistants.
Provide programmatic support when necessary.
Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a master's degree and 1 year of experience in a related discipline. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.
Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:
A post-graduate degree in Health Science, Public Health, Public Policy, or related field.
Previous experience conducting qualitative research.
Previous experience conducting quantitative research, e.g. multivariate regression.
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Apps, Mural, Otter.ai, Basecamp, and Dedoose software.
Familiarity with system dynamics modeling.
Strong interest in and understanding of equity and community resilience.
Ability to work independently, maintain flexibility, manage schedules, meet deadlines, and develop rapport with partners and community stakeholder.
Typical Hiring Range
$50-$62K
