Academic Tutors / Afterschool Tutorial Program (SPS-ATP)
ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS, GRADES K-8
Job Goal: The Somerville Public Schools is now accepting applications from qualified educators for Academic Tutor positions in the after school program. The Somerville Public Schools Academic Tutorial Program (SPS-ATP) will be offered two afternoons per week onsite at each K-8 Title I school.
Qualifications:
Massachusetts D.E.S.E License in appropriate subject area
Bachelor’s degree
Experience teaching or knowledge of the specific subject area
Experience teaching or working with students in grades K-8
Basic computer literacy
Responsibilities:
Provide academic intervention to small groups of 5 students maximum who qualify for ATP
Provide skill development in Math and ELA reflective of students’ academic needs in order to assist students in attaining the DESE grade level standards;
Review and utilize district standardized assessment data to determine students’ individual learning goals including: MCAS, and DIBELS
Complete all record keeping using our internal GOOGLE database program: generate parent contract letters, write student progress reports, track student attendance, and log tutor hours. Tutors are also responsible for obtaining parent signatures for parent contracts and writing progress reports (1 report for each student per academic year is required) to share with parent/guardian, classroom teachers, and principal
Incorporate best literacy and math practices into tutor sessions;

All tutors will be required to attend the 1 hour Academic Tutorial Program orientation, the date is TBD, from 3pm-4pm on Zoom.
Schedule: SPS ATP is offered Monday thru Friday / 2:45 pm to 3:45 pm
Stipend: $30/hour. Total of 50 work hours include 25 hours of tutoring, 25 hours of paperwork (progress reports, attendance), preparation, progress monitoring, and PD/orientations
Please note in accordance with our federal and local Title I obligations, we are not able to issue final payment for tutoring services until all relevant paperwork is submitted (including signed parent contracts, parent signed student learning plans, accurate student attendance and progress reports).
