Job Description:
General Summary: The primary responsibility is to achieve the University's marketing and enrollment goals for the new student class through managing aspects of the campus visit program and managing the Welcome Team.
Job Duties:
Organizes and leads campus events and groups. These events include, but are not limited to: Falcon Fridays, Previews and Receptions, and groups visiting campus. Will require some evening and weekend work throughout the year.
Cultivates prospective students through on-campus visit experiences. Works to ensure visit experience is memorable, and improves ability to recruit prospective students. Liaison to strategic campus partners who support our recruitment efforts with prospective students and parents.
Ability to develop relationships with individuals and leaders of ethnically diverse backgrounds through culturally responsive conversations and outreach. Continuously expanding and improving the visit programs to diverse populations and first-generation students and families. Support and partner with the multicultural outreach team to plan, lead, and execute outreach visits and events.
Aspects of campus visit may include: transportation, campus tour, class visits, overnight housing arrangements, appointments with athletic coaches, faculty, fine performing arts, etc. Provides and ensures a high level of customer service with prompt follow-up to visit requests.
Involved in urgent problem solving to ensure that visit program is seamlessly managed. Works with a variety of on campus departments on an on-call basis to respond to visit related emergencies, possibly outside normal office hours.
Hires, manages, and trains paid SPU student Ambassadors who assist with individual visits, tours, housing, and events. Provide students with regular meetings, trainings, and gatherings focused on improving the campus experience of all visitors.
Manages the Welcome Team paid student intern staff. The Welcome Team is tasked with managing all university incoming phone calls and emails and interns manning the admissions front desk. Most inquiries are related to admissions processes and questions. The Welcome Team manager hires, trains, and schedules interns that provide accurate and timely answers to questions, help with scheduling visitors, check in students and families visiting campus, and provide excellent customer service.
Manages budget dedicated to assigned events, the Ambassador Program, and the Welcome Team. Has the authority to negotiate prices and facility agreements with vendors.
Pays close attention to detail and communicates effectively on a range of topics; which include, but are not limited to, application requirements, academic programs, extra-curricular activities, and university policies.
Creates, manages and maintains data related to events within the CRM. Works with Enrollment Operations to maintain the integrity and conversion of data between the two systems.
Requirements:
Qualified applicants will have a Bachelor's Degree and experience in event planning and event management.
Recent experience with student populations, high school (or younger) and college age, will be an asset, espeically if your experience has been in working with diverse populations.
This person will be a self-starter and have the ability to develop, evaluate, and enhance programs, with experience or interest in marketing, direct experience with SPU, or another Christian university.
Applicants should have evidence of the skills needed to evaluate individuals and their work, make independent decisions on a variety of issues, and be able to strategize to solve problems/issues that arise, in a fast paced enviornment.
Lookng for a professional presence and engaging personality who has a track record of relating well to people and be can speak with confidence in front of the diverse constituency base that visits the University.
This person is motivated by mission with a particular passion for and commitment to SPU's mission. They will be able to effectively articulate SPU's mission through their excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
They will have the flexibility to respond to changing market environments in Admissions by quickly developing new marketing strategies as needed and have the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Flexibility of schedule will be needed to adapt work hours to peaks of the admissions calendar (including some evenings or weekends).

Salary: $24.04 - $25.48 per hour
This is a full time position with excellent benefits. SPU pays the employee premium for medical, dental, and vision insurance. SPU makes contributions to an employee HSA account and to a retirement account after one year of eligibility in the plan.
