A Research Assistant (Grade 5) full time post is available from 25th April 2022 until 24th August 2022 in the laboratory of Dr Kathryn Hentges.
The purpose of this role is to perform research on a Fight for Sight funded short project to investigate the role of the gene ARL13B and its splice isoforms on cilia development, laterality gene expression and cardiac development, and links to Retinitis Pigmentosa. Duties of this role will include performing molecular biology, mammalian cell culture, and bioinformatics research.
Training of lab members in these methods will be required as appropriate to skills and experience. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with strong time management, team working, and communication skills. Research in the laboratory focusses on mouse and zebrafish model organisms and individuals with home office licences and experience with those species are desired.
