Canton High School
is seeking an exceptional and dynamic candidate to serve as a STEM/Computer Science teacher
for the 2023-2024 school year and beyond (start date of August 28, 2023)
. The STEM/Computer Science teacher
will join a vibrant and supportive team that places a high priority on collaboration, creativity, flexibility, and commitment to the goals of the District and to our students, families, and staff. This position would teach courses including
Project Lead the Way
Computer Science, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Robotics, and selected math courses.

JOB SUMMARY
Provide a well-organized, engaging, and supportive learning environment and utilizing the Massachusetts Standards-Based Curriculum and frameworks as a foundation. This teacher will also assist student growth in the areas of social-emotional learning using culturally-responsive and equity-based instructional practices.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
(include but are not limited to) :
Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences that align with the state standards
Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development
Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs
Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by law, district policies, and school regulations
Prepare required reports on students and activities
Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
Participate in department and school meetings, parent meetings
Keep up to date with developments in subject area, teaching resources, and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Massachusetts DESE teacher license or license-eligible in Digital Literacy/Computer Science, General Science, and/or Math, or the ability to apply for one of these licenses. (Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.)
Highly Qualified per the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) standards
Proven ability to collaborate and interact with a variety of stakeholders, including but not limited to administrators, parents/guardians, teachers, students, other school staff, and visitors
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Strong classroom management skills and leadership abilities
Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills
Working knowledge of relevant technologies: internet and email systems; student information systems, the Google suite, presentation resources, and other instructional technologies.
Preferred
experience with
Project Lead the Way
, AP Computer Science, and ONShape (or similar CAD programs).
REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Department Coordinators
SUPERVISES: Not Applicable
WORK YEAR: 183 days
COMPENSATION: Competitive salary with comparable districts
