This role has academic oversight of the Foundations for Practice component of the BMBS A300 Clinical Medicine course in Nottingham and Derby. The role includes liaison across the School with Academic Attachment Leads, the Assessment Team, the Education Governance Team, the Clinical Vice-Deans in each of the Derby and Nottingham hubs and the Registry and Academic Affairs team.
The School is about to introduce a new clinical curriculum in February 2022. Foundations for Practice (FFP) will cover the first 36 weeks of this new curriculum and will run annually from February to November. It comprises five rotations of six-week placements in junior medicine, junior surgery, mental health, primary care and special senses (ophthalmology, dermatology, ENT). Built into the FFP block there is also an induction week, two weeks of student holiday, a week for formative examinations, a revision week, and a week for summative examinations.
You will participate in the Centre’s organisation, management and strategic planning and contribute, overall, to management within the School of Medicine and to the University’s strategic planning processes.
You must have MB BS, or equivalent, Membership or Fellowship of a Royal College, be eligible for the GMC Specialist Register/General Practitioner Register or within six months of gaining CCT at time of anticipated start date. Hold full GMC Registration with a licence to practice and be eligible to reside & work in the UK.
This role is available on a fixed term basis for 3 years. Hours of work are part time (12 hours).
