The role

in the UK by some measures (Beauhurst, 2021). In recent years two new industry clusters have formed around our spinouts in the life science and quantum technology. The University’s new strategy in 2022 will set out ambitions to build upon this success and increase our contribution to a dynamic and exciting start-up community.
This is an opportunity to lead these research commercialisation and investment activities, generating both income and impact
What will you be doing?
Our activities in commercialisation and investment support the University’s strategy, fostering an organisation-wide culture of innovation and entrepreneurship. The team’s work spans identification and development of commercialisation opportunities; negotiation of contracts; creation, negotiation, and management of internal and external investment funds; undertaking business development; and creating and managing spinout companies.
The goal is to ensure that the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.’s research outputs are used to create new services, products and businesses which will solve pressing societal challenges and add value to the national economy.
The post holder leads the Research Commercialisation team and will build relationships internally and externally with a wide variety of stakeholders. This includes close relationships with other RED teams support the full range of routes to impact, with Faculty offices, with senior University leaders, with investors and local incubators.
You should apply if
You will need strong leadership and management skills, and the ability to negotiate with a variety of individuals and organisations, from researchers to multinational companies. We are looking for an experienced commercialisation professionals who can represent the University in both national and international arenas and be a thought leader in the field.
