The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. invites applications for a Chemist - Product Specialist to join our exciting collaboration with Trelleborg Retford Ltd.
Trelleborg Retford is part of Trelleborg AB – Trelleborg Industrial Solutions – with a global presence in the elastomer industry. The group manufacture a diverse and versatile range of smart materials providing world leading solutions in Defence, Rail and Renewables sectors.
Based at Trelleborg Retford, this position offers a unique opportunity to lead the delivery of a strategic project to develop a novel polyurethane that is both recyclable and capable of self-healing. A key aspect of your role will be to transfer the latest research in green and sustainable chemistry to develop and embed new technologies, practices, and processes into the company. You will also engage with the company’s customers and other stakeholders to ensure that the technologies implemented are aligned with their requirements.
You will:
Undertake the delivery of an experimental programme to design and prepare smart monomer/linker systems that will underpin the deployment of “make and break” linkers in novel polyurethane systems.
Develop appropriate analytical packages that will support quality assessment and inform strategic decision making.
Manage and store material samples and associated analytical data.
Periodically update the project team on progress and proposed next steps.
You must have:
A PhD (or expect award by summer 2022) in Chemistry or closely related discipline, ideally synthetic chemistry with previous experience in polymer science of reactive monomer synthesis
Experience in the analysis of organic reaction products using NMR, MS, GC/LC-MS or related technique
Excellent organisational, communication and team working skills.
Ability to work in an experimentally flexible environment.
