The Department of Comparative Pathobiology in **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. invites applications for an assistant professor in laboratory animal medicine. The successful candidate will share responsibility for clinical care and management of our research and teaching animals, provide support for internal and external researchers, teach in the combined DVM/Master of Laboratory Animal Medicine program, in the DVM program, in other graduate programs, and engage in research and scholarly activity.
**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. hosts a rodent facility, large animal housing and research spaces, a research farm, and the New England Regional Biosafety Laboratory (BSL3). Cummings School hosts six hospitals or clinics, responsible for care of over 100,000 animals annually and has a Clinical Trials Office to support clinical research. The Comparative Pathology and Genomics Shared Research Resource, Cummings Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, and advanced diagnostic imaging also support research at Cummings School.
For those individuals with a strong research interest, any area of expertise will be considered. However, alignment with our research priority areas, including BSL3 research, is considered an asset. Research priorities include infectious disease and global health, clinical and translational research, comparative oncology, cardiovascular and renal disease, neurosciences, human-animal interactions, and public policy.
Cummings School veterinary experts help bridge the gap between animals and people, and between proof-of-concept and clinical trials. Our AAALAC-accredited program supports large animal models, experimental surgery, regenerative medicine, ABSL2 and ABSL3 containment, orthopedics, MRI and CT imaging, pulmonology, and pathology.
Qualifications:
Must hold a DVM or equivalent degree. Must be eligible for licensure in Massachusetts. Completion of a residency program in laboratory animal medicine or equivalent experience is required. A PhD or other advanced degree is considered an asset. Board certification by the American College of Laboratory Medicine (ACLAM) or the European College of Laboratory Animal Medicine is considered an asset. Demonstrated excellence in laboratory animal medicine and ability to support a range of animal species are required. Excellence in teaching and demonstrated ability or potential to establish an independent or collaborative research program is required.
