Burlington High School is seeking an experienced and energetic History teacher who is passionate about teaching History courses to grades 9-12 as identified based on department need.
Job Requirements:
Licensed or eligible for Vermont Educators License.
Endorsement in high school Social Studies or eligible for Vermont Provisional License.
Documented or eligible for NCLB Highly Qualified Teacher status.
Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Required Qualifications:
Experience teaching at the high school level.
Experience in differentiating instruction through the creative process and planning curriculum using “backwards design” and formative assessments.
Experience in integrating technology into classroom instruction.
Understanding of Cultural Competency (as explained through Essay 1 on SchoolSpring).
Knowledge of best practices in engaging and motivating students and managing student behaviors.
Preferred Attributes
Experience in professional/teaching learning community groups including working collaboratively with colleagues to plan units of study, review student data and progress, and adjust instruction.
A commitment to student-centered learning approaches including personalizing instruction and supporting students meeting core proficiencies.
Training and/or experience with English Language Learners.
Experience in implementing inclusive practices for students with disabilities.
Ongoing educational coursework in social studies.
SALARY:
As per the Master Agreement between the Burlington Board of School Commissioners and the Burlington Education Association.
