Policing programmes, clustered within the York Business School, is an ambitious and growing academic area based on our magnificent campus in the heart of York. Our burgeoning national and international research profile, excellent teaching and learning, and welcoming and inclusive ethos supports an exceptional student experience, as evidenced in our NSS results over the past 5 years.
We are seeking an enthusiastic lecturer to contribute to these vibrant undergraduate Policing Programmes. We have three Policing Programmes which include: Degree in Professional Policing (DPP), Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) and Degree Holder Entry Programme (DHEP). Our PCDA and DHEP programmes are delivered in collaboration with the Humberside Police. Some of the teaching is offside in Hull at the Humberside Police Training Centre. The University is a College of Policing approved centre to deliver the on-campus full time pre-join degree (DPP) programme. The first cohort of DPP programme will be graduating this academic year. Whilst the place of work is York St John Campus, the post holder will be required to travel to Hull from time to time to deliver sessions. Due to the requirement to work from police premises, forces may also require applicants to undertake additional police vetting.
The majority of your work will involve teaching in a variety of settings, including small group tutorials/seminars and lectures; assessment; and the provision of pastoral and academic support to students. The successful candidate will also be supported in developing a solid research profile.
Candidates will have expertise in teaching diverse area of Policing modules at undergraduate level, as well as an interest in developing postgraduate provision in the future. The successful candidate will be supported in cultivating an outstanding research profile in Policing. We are keen on growing our research areas and welcome any research specialisms.
It is essential that candidates hold a doctoral level qualification or are near completion.
