Sustainability Academy is searching for a 2nd Grade Long Term Substitute (LTS) Teacher from August-November of the 2022-23 school year.

The Sustainability Academy is the country's first elementary school focused entirely on Education for Sustainability, located in the Old North End of Burlington, Vermont. At SA, we define sustainability as the shared responsibility for improving the quality of life for all—economically, socially, and environmentally—now and for future generations.

Required:
• In “Certifications” section note the following (if pending, please indicate):
o Licensed or eligible for Vermont Educators License.
o Endorsement in the subject area or eligible for Vermont Provisional License.
o Documented NCLB Highly Qualified Teacher status.
• Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• THREE Letters of Recommendation and transcripts uploaded to SchoolSpring
• Understanding of Cultural Competency (As explained through Essay 1)
• School experience at the elementary level
• Familiarity with integrated technology as a learning tool
• Knowledge of best practices regarding student management protocols
• Knowledge of elementary research based best practices
• For the Sustainability Academy: Addresses the value of sustainability in education and/or
has a background/training in sustainability (As explained in Essay Question 3).
• For Integrated Arts Academy: Evidence of arts focus, training, or background (As
explained in Essay Question 4.)
Preferred:
• Training and experience with English Language Learners
• Evidence of strong connection with students and families.
• Experience in a professional/teaching learning community
• Knowledge of assessments and use of data to inform instruction
• Experience in implementing inclusive practices
• Strong communication skills as evidenced through quality of resume and cover letter
• Ongoing educational coursework
