Job Goal
: Next Wave Jr. High and Full Circle High are continuing a summer program for students at risk of dropping out of school. The summer program will provide a positive and fun learning environment which will address student academic needs as well as their social emotional needs addressed in their IEPs. These opportunities will greatly expand student exposure to the educational, cultural and clinical support services offered at NW/FC during the academic year.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred) in a related field to education; Massachusetts DESE license in Mild to Moderate Special Needs grades 5-12
Experience with the therapeutic model of Next Wave/Full Circle
Experience with middle and/or high school socio/emotional curriculum, instruction and assessment practices
Experience with the IEP process
A strong ability to build community, provide support to and motivate staff
Ability to maintain a safe and healthy environment for students
Strong organizational and effective communication skills
Experience working with a team to develop curriculum and extracurricular activities
Knowledge of/connection with support programs in the community
An interest in promoting instructional leadership among staff.
Sensitivity to and/or experience in working with children and adults from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds
Responsibilities
Supervise assistant director if needed
School year job requirements including planning and coordination time during out of school hours
Must be available for on-site support for summer session for NW/FC
Must be available for professional development the week of June 26, 2023
Respond to program crisis situations and be point of contact for staff, student and families when needed
Manage daily attendance and notify supervisor(s) of students with attendance concerns
Compile program data including, but not limited to student academic progress, pre/post testing assessments, attendance by end of program
Ensure program clean-up happens at the end of program

Mandatory Orientation and Professional Development Days: Week of June 26, 2023
Program Schedule: Daily hours to be determined as needed in coordination with Supervisor and program schedule
