Overview
AIR is currently seeking a Technical Assistance Consultant to join our Education Systems Program Area within AIR's Human Services Division to aid us with improving outcomes in Education. The
Technical Assistance Consultant will serve as a subject matter expert on training and technical assistance (TTA) and qualitative research projects focused on topics related to secondary school success such as early warning systems and dropout prevention, student re-engagement and chronic absenteeism, and other evidence-based college and career readiness strategies. The candidate will have experience conducting qualitative research and providing training, facilitation and coaching support to education personnel focused on topics related to secondary school and/or college and career readiness. This position will require the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse audiences working with state and national partners. Candidates hired for the position might initially start working remotely but will ultimately have the option to work remotely or from one of AIR's office locations.

Responsibilities
The responsibilities for the position include:
Develop training materials, toolkits, curricula, and assessment tools.
Provide TTA for projects related to subject matter expertise.
Interact with state, local, and site-based staff; potential clients; and partner organizations.
Contribute to capacity building on early warning systems and dropout prevention for existing clients.
Manage or lead projects or tasks, with assumption of greater responsibility over time.
Write reports, including briefs, charts, and graphs that describe and interpret findings for clients.
Conduct qualitative research and analyze qualitative data sets including but not limited to focus groups and interviews.
Contribute substantively, thoughtfully, and creatively to the conceptualization and design of proposals in response to funder requests or for grant competitions.
Develop and maintain daily relationships with clients and funders to plan, implement, and present study results while maintaining appropriate professional objectivity.
Clearly communicate with clients and represent AIR in a professional manner.
Communicate effectively, orally or in writing, with clients, site-based staff, and other stakeholders.
Handle multiple tasks independently and simultaneously.
Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, and Experience:
Master's degree or bachelor's degree and 4 years of experience in education, youth development, out-of-school time or other related fields
Expertise or experience developing evidence-based TTA tools and materials and providing TTA in at least one of the following areas:
Secondary school success
College and career readiness
Early warning systems
Dropout prevention
Student re-engagement
Chronic absenteeism
Expertise or experience in equity and improving outcomes for racially and linguistically diverse students
Prior experience in non-profit, philanthropic, university, or mission-driven environment
Skills:
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills including strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to produce concise, high-level summaries and briefings
The ability to travel up to 30% of the time
A strong business development acumen
Passionate about topics related to re-engaging students and improving outcomes for students a must
