About The Role

Lecturer in Game Programming
to join its dynamic teaching team. It's an exciting time to be joining us as we grow as a University as we continue to offer quality-led relevant courses for students.
It is anticipated this role will include the leadership and delivery of four modules which could span multiple courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level in the Games Academy. Potential modules include ‘Advanced Game Programming’, ‘Software Engineering’, ‘Gameplay Programming’, and/or ‘Digital Game Technologies’. The role will also involve responsibilities related to: personal tutoring, taking an interest in the experience and well-being of a set group of students; teaching policy, namely, contributing to our Transdisciplinary Group Working Strategy; and link tutoring, assisting the Head of Subject to coordinate and support our partnerships with other institutions.
All Lecturers are expected to engage in research and innovation, defining an individual research and innovation plan which is anticipated to align with one or more of our research programmes. Programmes of interest might include: Digital Creativity, Dark Economies, Metamaking, and/or Pedagogic Futures. The academic team presently has strengths in the areas of digital pedagogies for games education and computing education, immersive experience design, game studies, data aesthetics, and development pipeline automation.
About You
The ideal candidate should either be educated to degree level or be able to demonstrate equivalent work-based learning in a relevant environment. You will be an inspiring and engaging educator who can help students across our Computing, Game Development, and Game Art provision. We are looking for candidates to have expertise in advanced game programming and the associated computational mathematics and engines, but who will be comfortable working with diverse teams formed of students from many different disciplines including art, animation, audio, design, programming.  
You will be working closely with students to help them make games using Unity and/or Unreal across one-on-one tutorials, small group supervisions, critiques, large lectures and workshops, and expo events. We have a particular interest in expanding our capacity to support our students with C programming and our teams using Unreal engine, and so it is likely the successful candidate will act as the programming tutor for C /Unreal as part of this role.
We are looking to hear from candidates who have the following skills/experience:
Advanced knowledge of game programming and digital game technologies.
Understanding of how mathematics is applied to game development.
Good connections with industry and professional practice.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
